ORIGINAL BECAUSE.....
Born under the sign of time, when nature too delivers its best fruits to the skilful hands of man, such refined and eternal forms of the bentwood items in beech created by Italcomma.
They tell the story of a man, Michael Thonet, who had the ingenious foresight to curve beech using steam and to sculpt in wood decorative motifs of incomparable beauty, capable of making objects of daily use seductive and unique. Of the Austro-Hungarian empire, which looked favourably upon the idea of promoting an elegant and innovative style, creating a vast network of factories engaged in using steam to curve beech.
Some of those factories are still working today and they still keep up the production according to the original methods devised by Thonet; the technique is the same, nothing has changed: every single piece is hand-made; even every woven item is still hand crafted and knots tied one by one.
From those factories Italcomma selects its chairs and complements manufactured according to the original designs and moulds, and thanks to its assiduous attention to research, it keeps up discovering, among the ancient designs, real 'jewels', which are found in some of the most prestigious museums throughout Europe as well as the best-furnished homes.
